David is married to Peta and has two sons, Adam (also the most recent employee and retirement plan) and Jacob (who is the mechanic in the family).

David grew up in Esperance in WA, where the family owned a motor vehicle dealership and mechanical workshop for 28 years and has spent most of his life living and working in the country. After removing much skin from his knuckles working holidays in the workshop he decided that he wasn’t going to be a mechanic.

David has worked in and around the finance industry most of his life, starting with Elders insurance before moving to financial planning. After a managing the family car dealership in Esperance he returned to Perth and worked in the barter industry and finance, before taking up an opportunity to return to the country in 2005 with CGU as an account manager in Albany.

In 2011 he left the life of an employee and set up his own insurance brokerage business, Regional Insurance Professionals. David’s focus is on regional businesses, predominately farming enterprises.

Like most farmers, when the son wants to join the business David had to increase the size of the business to accommodate. He purchased the regional clients from a Perth broker and acquired another business in Kalgoorlie. Regional Insurance Professionals has now grown to three time the size, with clients stretching from Kununurra, WA to Adelaide River, NT down to Albany in the south and points in between.

David is a keen sailor, but he describes himself as just keen to sail these days as the business has gotten so busy.

Moving away from home at a young age, Adam set out from Albany to live in Perth, stating that he wasn’t going to go into the family business. However, naturally opportunities came from family connections and he got his first fulltime job working in the insurance industry in 2008 in a sales and service role with SGIO.

A call centre environment meant no relationship with clients and constant pressure to sell, so he decided after almost three years, to look for a change. An opportunity appeared at HBF to become a dedicated storm claims consultant, handling all claims relating to the big hail storm Perth had back in March of 2010.

After a small stint there he moved to a large Australia broking firm and learned the ropes of what it means to be a broker. He spent two and a half years in the domestic division before taking up a role as an assistant broker in construction for another two and half years.

Having completed his diploma in insurance he felt like another cog in the machine and the long commutes into West Perth to work were starting to take its toll. At this point Regional Insurance Professionals had grown large enough to support another employee, and who else better than your own family member?

Adam joined in February 2016 and has learnt the field of farm and rural insurance quickly.

Being raised on a sheep and grain farm in Kojonup, WA, Jess has strong ties to the country. After moving to Perth late in her childhood she found every reason to head down south as much as possible.

Moving to Paraburdoo, WA (a small mining town) at age 16, she went every second week to help at the cattle station just outside of town and fell in love with the lifestyle.

Jess then moved to Darwin at 18 where she worked in retail for a short time and then moved to the Toyota service department as a receptionist, which she loved due to the Land Cruisers she got to see daily (and hopes to own her own 79 series one day).

After her 21st birthday Jess unfortunately decided to leave her beloved Darwin and come home to her family in WA. She is a great lover of country music as the Regional Insurance family has found out with her belting her tunes every day. She loves her new position with our team and clients and looks forward to a long career with us.
